Political cartooning was a popular art form during the late Georgian period in England, and the excesses of George IV, first as Prince Regent and later as king, gave the satirists and newspapers plenty of fodder for entertaining an increasingly literate and well-informed public. The "Prince of Whales" exhibit, curated by Tiamat Windstorm, takes us through George IV's very public scandals as seen through the eyes of England's most famous political cartoonists of the late 18th and early 19th century. Are we talking about gluttony? The exhibit has it. Excessive debt? Oh my, yes! And mistresses? Lots and lots of mistresses -- literally tons of mistresses!! This exhibit will leave you simultaneously laughing and appalled at the royal escapes.
